He's turning 6...

How can it be already that my sweet little nephew is 6 today?

I still remember rubbing his mommy's back for hours in the hospital before he was born.

That was just last month....where did the time go?

I love this precious little "heart breaker" to pieces.

I'm taking half the day off today and surprising him at his school when he gets out.  I can't wait for the tackle when he sees me.  It's THE best!  I think I might get tackled when he opens the heely's that I bought him for his birthday.....yep he gave me those sad eyes a couple weeks ago and said "auntie I really really want them"

So I did what every good auntie would do if she could...I bought them :).  Ya I'll for sure get tackled.

Like here when he tackled me for candy....good thing he didn't break my camera :)

Have I mentioned how much I love this kid....I'm so blessed to be called his auntie.

Face Painting for Birthday #5!

My sister is an ebay and Craig's List queen!  She says I turned her onto ebay but she's taken it to a whole new level!

She sells and buys pretty much everything it seems these days on one of the 2 sites.  People now hire her to sell their goods and give her a commission.  She has a crazy system.

But this one was new for me - for my sweet little nephew's 5th birthday party, my sister wanted to have a real face painter.  Not just anyone who could hold a paint brush but someone with talent.  And she found an artist on Craig's List of all places.

And this girl was a true artist!!!

She was so great with the kids and soooooo patient!  She came with a notebook full of pictures of other kids so they were able to pick from dozens of faces.

Marcus went first and then the other kids couldn't wait to get their faces painted.

Marcus was ready to paaaarty now!!!

Just don't tell Spiderman that he put on a Batman face - the outcome of that conversation may not be good and he's only 5!!

And I love him a whole lot!

Marcus wanted a Spiderman birthday party and that's what he got!!!

 

Almost 5 already?

I LOVE this kid so much.

I know I brag about him so much but this proud Auntie is so in love with this kid!  

My BFF will kindly remind you that I used to tell her she was obsessed when her first nephew was born...I mean the pull out your wallet and the accordion set of 27 pictures comes unfolding down..ya that kind of obsessed.

Funny - I think I'm the one with the 27 picture accordion fold-out picture thingy.....

I love the way he hugs me and how he will always just walk up to me without any prompting (you know how this feels....) and just snuggle in my arms and put his head on me. 

I love when he asks me to play games with him and how elated he gets when I say yes.

 

He literally makes my heart smile.  He is one of the bright lights to our family.

I love praying for his heart - I love that God gave me the role of Auntie to this little guy...I'm beyond blessed and beyond honored.

I love his mom and dad and sisters a ton too - they're all pretty darn cool!

I can hardly believe he's already turning 5 in a few weeks.

How is that possible even though here he looks like a little man?

He is a little man and he is sooooo smart (his teachers say so).  I can brag about him cuz I'm just the bragging auntie :)

Jen and Rod you are amazing parents - he's blessed to have you as mommy and daddy!

Little Boys CUP

What is it with boys and dirt and bugs and anything to do with the outdoors?  It's one thing I'll never understand or maybe someday if I have children...or maybe I still won't ever understand!

Marcus and I were at Starbucks enjoying my latte and his kid's coffee and staring out at the ocean...a very peaceful Sunday morning just the two of us!

He loved showing me his kids coffee mouth - chocolate everywhere...

but then he squats down staring at the ground and finds a new friend...

 he's enamored with this little guy

 

and he keeps bringing it closer and closer to my face...and oh dear those fingernails....boys!
