Before Thanksgiving is too far gone because Christmas has taken over....I thought I better post some pics of my sweet day.
And make a note that I think one of my desires for new years is to be better at my blog.
My niece and nephew showed up with a goodie bag and I had been instructed, me the stationery maker-girl, that I could not make placecards for Thanksgiving dinner. I wanted to stomp my feet until I realized it was the little ones that were insisting that I didn't do them.
I'm really so glad I obeyed and didn't stomp my feet. It was way cuter than I could have ever done!!
And in exchange I had them clean my floors....aka "snow angels" or so they thought that's what they were doing!!
I love them to pieces so I can post this picture but while I was slaving away in the kitchen on the Thanksgiving meal (by myself....) this is what they were doing!
This kid LOVES my cooking so it makes everything better! :)
Some sweet friends stopped by for some playtime. We love the Mays!!!
So I'm hungry. I know what else is new? It's only because I'm trying to not be hungry that I'm hungry.
But since this weekend is Easter I need to bake. I mean it's the right, kind and generous thing to do..bake for a holiday. I mean what would a fabulous holiday be without some yummy treats to share with your loved ones?
See I'm always thinking of others! :)
So last year I made this AMAZING Carrot Cake - I mean it was moist beyond moist!! Yummy! And the cream cheese frosting...oh my!!
And for the kiddos in my life I made these:
They were fun and I loved how they turned out.
But.....and hopefully some of you creative friends can relate....being creative doesn't mean repeating something you already did. I make my life harder for myself I know, especially in my biz when someone is perfectly happy with a design I did for someone else and they want the exact thing - I'm always wanting to change it up and make it something different. Why I feel the need to make more work for myself I have no idea.
But back to the sweets I must make this weekend because you know...it's the right thing to do.
I don't know what to make - any ideas?
I thought about these Carrot Cake cupcakes from Joy the Baker because afterall they do have carrots in them
And the thought of dulce-de-leche buttercream? Uhh Yummm!!! Duh!
I thought about these by Bakerella but I don't know if I have the energy for bunny ears?
I'm lazy you know.
And these cakeballs?
Do you know what happens to me when there are cakeballs in my house?
Especially the chocolate fudge ones?
This is precisely why I probably didn't invite you over at Christmastime for fear that we would no longer be friends after you ate one of my cakeballs.
And if I wasn't around to see you eat one......trust me on this:
My BFF would have beat you up if you ate one of her red velvet cake balls.
So I'm just saying.....maybe these aren't such a good idea?
There's always the Booze Cake - now that will get those church ladies talkin'!!!!
I think I know what I want to make but it's a toss up between something with lemon and something with frosting....you know me and frosting.....it's true love in the most eternal way possible that you can be with frosting....especially when it's chocolate.
Or perhaps I should just step away from the kitchen......
I have been busier lately than I have been in a very long time. I know some of you are saying "but you are always busy". It's true - busy just finds me sometimes.
But, one of my New Year's goals this year was to not neglect time with friends, doing for others and simply loving on those God has put in my life. Sometimes it's hard and sometimes I want to be selfish about my time but every time I choose to give my self or my time instead of keeping it, God blesses me beyond anything I could have imagined.
That is why this year I designed my Valentine card to remind all of us to give our Love away first!
Eeek I might scream from excitement and from my eyes hurting!!!
There is so much creativity out there I could just sit and drool all day everyday! In my new weekly schedule for this year, I have mapped out some "research" time. Time to scour the internet for inspiration and to stay up-to-date with the latest trends and designs. There is sooo much out there that at the end of my research hours my brain and my eyes hurt!
I decided a little bit ago that I wanted to start sharing some fabulous blogs or sites I find and would LOVE for you all to share some of yours with me too. One fabulous blog or site always leads to another and another and another.
Please pass this on and then share back any little gems you have found!
More to come.........
First.....I just had to share these...they are so cute! Natalie Jost is a great designer - I have been admiring her talent. We exchanged a couple emails because I was hoping to be able to do some work with her, incorporate some of her designs, and I may on a project here and there we'll see, but for now I have to share her with you!
