I know I'm dating myself so humor me and walk with me friends. Once upon a time there was no such think as Tivo, DVR or VHS recordings {gasp}. What to do when you want to record your absolute favorite show?
You pull out your cassette recorder with the microphone. The very microphone that I would stand in our den when nobody was looking and I would belt at the top of my lungs such hits as St. Pepper Lonely Hearts club band....I'm old. Thank you.
So, when your very favorite show was on way back when...what better to do than to set that cassette recorder and microphone hanging over the edge of a book just perfectly next to the TV speaker and you would record the show.
Then you take that cassette recorder to school the next day and during recess you sing at the top of your lungs I'm a little bit country....I'm a little bit rock 'n roll..... And all was perfect in the world because surely this caused you have tons of friends I mean way more than you could ever invite to your birthday party. TV shows recorded on a cassette recorder - serious friend magnet!
Then because you're so obsessed with the show - you just have to write the stars a letter:
And if you're a good mama like mine was....you don't really send the letter in you keep it in a box so that one day when your daughter is all grown up, you give her a box filled with all sorts of precious memories. Happiness.
And you know, as I was looking at this I think I figured out when my obsession for fonts and sripts and type and all things written began....
I mean look at the curve in these letters? It's brilliant isn't it?
And the same words repeated twice even match - so it stuck. It was a real signature type. I think I'm on to something here.
