A Perfect Day!

I spent a night and a day in a town that....as my local friend says "it's God's Country"!

I think I may have to agree.  It was a beautiful place.

I had never met this friend before in person....and can you believe this is the only photo of us that I have?  And yes I'm not even in the picture.

She took all the pics being that she's the photog and now I'm patiently waiting for them while she edits her paying customers first :)  So for now I'm posting their backsides - I'm sure they'll love me for this one!!!

It truly was a Perfect Day and now I have a new friend - well a new "in person" friend because we've been online friends for over a year!  Blog friends - I think we took a blog friend photo but I'll have to wait and see :)

Summer

It's officially here.....at least it was in Washington....not sure about So Cal??

I took a vacation last week.....a different kind of vacation this time.  I know I know I wasn't on a cruise ship - it's hard to believe. 

But don't think I went a whole vacation without being on the ocean....I did get on a boat for part of my trip.  Of course this particular boat was the kind you drive onto and it only lasted 1 hour but....it was still a boat :).

This picture pretty much sums up my time with this sweet family :)

Photograph Play Along

The Pioneer Woman is having another photography contest and it was titled "Green" photos.  As soon as I read her title I knew which picture I wanted to submit.....one of my favorite photos from my trip to Europe last year titled "Green Door".

I know...moving title.  I'm so good with words.

My picture doesn't hold a candle to all the submissions (have you seen some of the amazing photos...oh my word!!) but I love this little one of mine.  It's fun to post them and look at everyone elses. 

Not sure why I love this picture so much but I do.  I think because I loved walking around this city so much - it was an amazing day. 

I had a huge print of this picture made....but now I need to save my pennies to have it framed the way I want :).  Someday.

Then as I was looking for my green door picture to post I started scanning through so many photos from the trip. 

They make me smile and then they make me sad at the same time that you plan and look forward to a vacation for so long and then boom!  It's over before you can blink.

This is what makes pictures so wonderful - you can look back and remember all the fun times.

I smiled when I saw this picture.

But then I think I always smile when a yummy cappuccino is placed in front of me. 

I want to go back.  I want to sit back in this cafe and drink this same cappuccino and eat the same chocolate cake....oh I wish.

I want to have this relaxing "I'm on vacation smile" today.  I want to wear my favorite jeans, my most comfy sweater, my BFF's scarf, my favorite brown hat....and stand with my hand on my hip like I"m cool.....Please?  Pretty please with gravy on top?  Calgon?

Road Trips

 

Road trips can be fun....really fun!  I love them and am already planning my next one to see KK!!

If you don't make them fun....they can be boooooring (says that picture of Marcus bored out of his mind!!)

Even a DVD player per kid isn't enough entertainment sometimes.  I tried to entertain with my camera. 

Marcus didn't quite understand what had gotten into me.

My attempts weren't working.

"C'mon auntie....really?"

"No more pictures please".

(That's okay Sophia played peek-a-boo with me) :)

Copenhagen - Ice Bar and Tivoli Gardens

Ice Bars - I had never heard of them before I was doing research for this trip.  Once I heard of them and mentioned it to people I couldn't believe how many people had heard of them before.

It was so much fun - the 8 of us went and we laughed and had such a great time.

None of us really knew what to expect or what kind of parkas they were going to give us....but I think it's pretty much what eskimos would wear - ha!

It was super heavy, thermal, several layers and attached gloves - it was needed for sure!

After getting all our gear on - they took us in a room like a large elevator and closed the door on one side and a couple minutes later the opposite door opens and there's the bar......

BRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.....................

I had warned everyone it could be a traditional vodka shot - just straight vodka like they gave us in Russia but nobody cared.  We weren't really going there for the drink anyway but one drink comes with your entrance fee (and it better!!)

But the drinks weren't straight vodka - they were incredibly yummy. 

I had a passion fruit drink that was taaaasty!  The glasses are made of solid ice - you had to have gloves on that's for sure.

So much fun!

This place is the ultimate tourist trap but it was worth every penny. 

Like my BFF says - "it's brilliant give people a costume to do something different and they'll have a ball".  We did!

It's so great when you decide to do something and everyone leaves saying I am so glad we did that it was so much fun.  What a great way to end an amazing vacation!

After walking around Copenhagen all day and then the Ice Bar....we headed back to the hotel to rest for an hour and then off for dinner and the amusement park.

Tivoli Gardens is beautiful - we purposely went at night because we had read that it's so pretty.  It did not disappoint they have lights everywhere. 

I wanted to go on this roller coaster and had even talked Jo and Mel into going and when we went to get tix - its was $12!!!!!  Needless to say we didn't go on it!

So long Denmark.....

This was Nyhavn in Copenhagen.....one last picture!  This was my favorite spot in the city (and of course we stopped at one of the cafes for a coffee and dessert.....but of course!!).

Copenhagen Denmark

A fabulous ending to an amazing vacation.

You plan for months and then just like that it's over.....

After we checked into the hotel, we hit the streets to see the Copenhagen we didn't get to see on day 1 because it poured buckets of rain on us.

Copenhagen is the Venice of Denmark with canals everywhere.

I don't know why but I absolutely love this photo and I can't even tell you the name of the darn building below but I love the copper rooftop.  Sure I could look it up but remember I'm lazy!

I actually took this photo from the canal cruise we took in the morning - we got to see so much.

The Little Mermaid - from Hans Christian Anderson's book that he wrote in 1937.  This statue is supposedly as important to Denmark as the Statue of Liberty is to NY.

Mmmmm street snacks - shocker for Jodi huh?!  This lady was making these yummy crepes in the market - they were yummy!  Oh wait I said that twice.  I guess they were yummy.

There are 7-Elevens EVERYWHERE we went so I took this photo of the Europe version of the Slurpee for Jason....enjoy!

Passing these cute cobblestone alleys and streets as I was leading the pack to the Ice Bar!!  After the Ice Bar - Tivoli Gardens.  An amusement park in Denmark as the finale to my 2-week vacation??  I felt so spoiled and I was.  Thank you Lord for an amazing trip!

Super fun pics coming up next!  I'll post them tonight and then I'm done - I'll quit blabbing about this darn trip but once I started I had to finish for my book!
